My areas of study are radio broadcasting, micro communications, and the use of emergent micro communication technologies by non-professionals. I have been published in the Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media (Fall 1999 Issue) and the American Communication Journal, have published articles in the trade press, and presented papers at conventions held by the American Communication Association, the National Communication Association, the Western States Communication Association, and the Southern States Communication Association. I founded the Rogue Scholar Project, which seeks to make scholarly writing available and understandable to a wider range of people and have organized Rogue Scholar Roundtable panels at several communication conventions. I am a founding partner of Rogue Communication, a communication consulting firm and internet content provider. I am a board member of the American Communication Association and just completed a 2-year stint as book review editor for the American Communication Journal. I belong to the International Communication Association, National Communication Association, the Southern States Communication Association, and the Western States Communication Association. I am active in the Free Radio Movement and drafted and organized The Joint Statement on Micro Radio as part of the public comments on the Low Power Radio Service before the FCC.
